| After receiving an investigative report from law enforcement, the Prosecuting Attorney is responsible for all subsequent aspects of criminal prosecution. This may include deciding not to file a particular case for some reason, often a lack of evidence. This may also include filing a charge and pursuing the case in court until a plea bargain is reached or a jury trial is held.
The Prosecuting Attorney collects restitution for crime victims and delinquent taxes for the Department of Revenue. The Prosecuting Attorney also advises the County Commission and various office holders on many legal topics. |
